Charting a Course for a Sustainable Future

The 250th anniversary of the United States offers an opportunity to leave a Legacy for Future Generations.

Since 1835, the Custom House has stood at the center of Newburyport's story. Nearly two hundred years later, the Museum will create a lasting impact through a focus on child and youth education.

The $250,000 for the 250th Campaign starts with a simple premise: we choose to invest in young people to create community and legacy connections.

We seek Supporters who share our vision of investment in child and youth education, who seek to guide the next generation of leaders, and who want to sustain these goals for a lasting future.

As a Supporter of the $250,000 for the 250^th Campaign, your gift can be directed to these 5 goals:

• Build the Kevin J. MacDonald Endowment Fund to sustain our paid internship program. 
• Fund the Internship Class 2026 of 6 high school and 6 college students. 
• Fund free programs at the museum for the Boys & Girls Club and Salvation Army.
• Fund children’s learning in the Discovery Center, inside and on the lawn.
• Fund a new Study Lab for students.

Throughout the summer and fall, campaign supporters will be invited to follow our progress through updates, gatherings, and special events.

2026 Needs & Expenses:

1. Kevin J. MacDonald Endowment Fund: Goal = $100,000
2. Fund the Internship Class 2026: Goal = $50,000
3. Boys & Girls Club and Salvation Army Programs. Goal = $25,000
4. Fund children’s learning in the Discovery Center. Goal = $35,000
5. Fund a new Study Lab for students: Goal = $40,000
